in the nation. we are now joined by jennifer granholm / michigan governor. there is a new automotive battery manufacturing plant opening up in your state, what are your hopes for it? our hope has been to diversify michigan's economy we have obviously been concentrating on automotive manufacturing. our goal has been to diversify our economy both inside and outside the automotive industry. when we saw that the federal government was putting together incentives for the battery industry in america we coupled state incentives with that. as a result we have the first lithium battery company from a one to three. this is one of 16 companies that we have been able to get started in michigan in the past 12 months. we are very excited because this means jobs. there are 300 people who are working here now, there should be 500 by january and up to 3000 over the next couple years. it is very exciting for us. will this project help to revive other types of suppliers in michigan as well? yes i do. the automotive and industry alone needs people who know how to do clean tech manufacturing and are suppliers to

and north kerry street lasted for much of the evening wednesday. 11 news reporter jennifer franciotti joins us live from the devastating scene this morning with the very latest. good morning, jen. >> good morning. fire investigators are still looking for a cause, and meanwhile, the red cross is insisting at least 12 people who have been displaced by this fire. this fire did happen on wednesday afternoon. firefighters battled two four-alarm fires on split streets within blocks of one another. the first started on north calhoun street, and it's believed, at least preliminary nearly, that employers from the fire ignited the fire that happened on north kerry street. in all, 11 rowhouses burned, most were vacant. but at this point, we're told that the red cross is assisting six families. >> we need money for clothes, food, i think some diapers. one of the families needed diapers. you know, we got them a hotel. >> there is really not much left at this rowhouse, this section of rowhouses. you can see the huge, gaping hole behind me. as i stand here on the side, it is littered with debris and broke

. this is the video show chilling. it shows jennifer hawke-petit scared. she told the teller two men were holding her family hostage. the bank teller called police. >> we have a lady who is in our bank right now who says that her husband and children are being held at their house. the people are in a car outside the bank. she is getting $15,000 to bring out to them. that if the police are told, they will kill her children and the husband. >> police went to the house. didn't move in, though, for more than 30 minutes. they watched the house. nothing seemed unusual from the outside. we now, of course, know that inside a nightmare was unfolding. mr. petit was beaten with a baseball bat and tied up in the basement. he survived. his wife was raped and strang told death. one of his daughters also assaulted and the house lit on fire. both girls apparently died from the smoke. both men are on trial for their lives and face the death penalty. tonight we asked randi kaye to investigate the accused and how they could have allegedly done such horrific things. here's the crime and punishment report. >> reporter: a

jennifer garyen reporting -- griffin reporting life at the pentagon. what do they have to say about this facility? >> reporter: well essentially, jenna, first of all, we have no independent way of confirming what they announced today, but this group in the past has revealed several sites inside of iran, major nuclear facilities that the iaea and white house eventually had to confirm the existence of, so they have proven reliable in the past. they have found a tunnel complex through satellite imagery as well as human intelligence inside the facility. it's about 80 miles west of tehran, it is a facility near the town of cause lean, they call it facility 311 for whatever that's worth. it, essentially, they're saying has 200-yard-long tunnels that are about 20 yards wide inside this mountain. there's been be digging going on for the past five years, and they're saying it looks like it's set up to have uranium-enrichment cascades. they think it's more along the scale of the cone facility that was revealed a year ago eventually confirmed by the white house, and they're saying this is anot
